Municipal Court Creation
Over the last several years, numerous new municipalities have been popping up in the Denver metropolitan area. Those new cities and towns must have a municipal court, and Judge Louis Gresh is the judicial officer with the most experience in creating new municipal courts.
“From my experience, new city councils of newly created municipalities, do not know how much municipal court they need at the outset," says Gresh.
"It should be a phased process –as more municipal services are provided, a more robust municipal court is necessary,“ says Gresh. But Judge Gresh encourages new cities and towns to start small. “There are a lot of expenses associated with creating a new town or city. Don’t over spend on more court than is needed at the outset,” advises Gresh.
